Chihuahua dogs as we know them today were developed in the United States of America
Although they bear a Mexican name their popularity has been defined by the American way they have been bred
They are a fiercely loyal, devoted big character in a little body
They come in such a wide variety of colours, types, length of coat and size

They are a marvellous family pet putting up with a remarkable amount from children although I do not recommend them to families with really boisterous children
My own son was very gentle with even the youngest pup even at the tender age of only two years old
